Child Care Teacher Assistant – 11404

***This Position Is Per-diem (Substitute as Needed) Flexible Shifts

Collaborates with classroom Teacher to provide supervision and support that is conducive to learning and fosters developmental growth in children.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • CPR Heartsaver.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • 45 Hour DCF Course or certification within 90 days in position.
  • Level II finger printing and background screening.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Teacher Assistant at a Child Care Center or related facility/school.
  • Coursework and documented trainings in early childhood education/development.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with functioning and monitoring of nutrition and food service, as well as toileting of child(ren)
  • Completes daily meal, playground and attendance records.
  • Assists classroom Teacher to conduct daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety & overall well-being of the children; documents any/all incidents relative to the child appropriately and timely.
  • Works with children in small group setting to meet the individual learning needs and support the effective implementation of lesson plans.
  • Supports classroom learning objectives by assisting Teacher in the implementation of age appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.
  • Provides appropriate and thorough supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of the children in care.
  • Assists classroom Teacher in the preparation of all activities and materials outlined in lesson plans.
  • Consistently enforces positive behavior strategies and developmental plans for children in care as outlined by the classroom Teacher.
  • Assist with other tasks as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Early childhood development knowledge and experience.
  • Good communication skills, problem solving, and priority setting as well as an overall positive and professional attitude/disposition.
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a collaborative team and implement educational activities to support lesson plans as directed by the Teacher.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.
  • Associate degree or a minimum of 60 college credit hours earned in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior strategies.
