CDS-Intake/Case Manager-Upstate

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

To assess and enroll individuals who are eligible for participation in Goodwill’s Industry Specific Training (IST) Programs to include but not limited to Retail, Food Service, Nurse Aide, Construction, Call Center, Custodial and Manufacturing and any other program that falls under the IST department.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To promote and market Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina, Inc. (GIUMSC) Training Programs to other departments and agencies to obtain appropriate referrals.

To effectively extend customer service and case management to participants through training and assistance with job placement.

To effectively extend timely and courteous customer service to participants through proper recruiting, screening and training program enrollment.

To establish positive relationships with participants and associates to successfully implement GIUMSC’s mission services.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To market all training program opportunities through networking events, email communication, community referrals, flyers, on-site visits, and regularly scheduled information sessions.

2. To serve as the point person between the participant and the worksite supervisor in addressing issues, barriers and progress in training program.

3. To act as a liaison between Goodwill Industries and referral sources, such as College representatives, Vocational Rehabilitation, WIOA, United Way, Department of Employment and Workforce, etc.

4. To recruit candidates for all training programs in order to enroll the number of required open positions per program with qualified individuals.

5. To meet the persons who complete, certify and are placed into employment goals.

6. To assist program graduates with follow up services and meet tracking measures.

7. To develop referral partnerships for participants to meet mission services plan.

8. To properly screen candidates to ensure program eligibility by performing interviews, background checks, assessments, and ensuring each receives a drug screen.

9. To provide leadership and direction in all related intake and case management program activities in GIUMSC’s territory.

10. To ensure effective program assignments of participants into available training positions.

11. To provide counseling, skills based training, and career guidance as needed.

12. To provide case management for IST programs training programs and to serve special needs participants and any assigned program participant(s).

13. To provide pre-employment orientation to training program participant to consist of all required program intake forms, program procedures and payroll information.

14. To facilitate work readiness classes, workshops and other events often.

15. To maintain confidentiality of all records and files concerning participants and financial records according to company standards and expectations to ensure HIPAA compliance.

16. To maintain files to meet licensing standards, regulatory compliance and ensure quality of recordkeeping and file management.

17. To maintain confidentiality, content, accuracy and punctuality of files, reports and records within the Career Development Services Department, to include case notes in the CDS ETO software.

18. To complete timely and accurate weekly and/or monthly reports as required.

19. To assist in following through with program evaluation and needs in the community.

20. To provide clerical support duties including recordkeeping, report generation, accounting duties, and administrative correspondences within the Career Development Services Department.

21. To track and report all accounting of SLED background reviews and drug screens and balance against Human Resource Department receipts.

22. To perform discharge summaries for program participant(s) in order to remove from Ceridian, and ensure file closure.

23. To develop classroom resources and facilitate classroom instruction to include Work Readiness, ServSafe and NRF curriculum.

24. To be knowledgeable in organizational and safety policies and procedures.

25. To facilitate the MAGIC satisfaction surveys from participants, and employers.

26. To provide Job Connection coverage as determined by various staffing needs.

27. To perform all other duties that may be assigned.

Education/Experience : Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Education, Social Work and/or Liberal Arts preferred or a combination of related experience and education . Two-years related Human Services experience required. Prefer two years working with individuals with disabilities and special needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Excellent math, written and verbal communications skills.

· Ability to present in a classroom environment.

· Leadership skills to inspire and successfully lead others.

· Working knowledge of Federal regulations in the area of working with individuals with special needs and disabilities.

· Must have competent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

· Basic office equipment knowledge including: computer, telephone fax, and copier.

· Work independently and demonstrate time management skills.

· Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA-related information.

· Acquire certification (training) in First Aid, CPR, MANDT, ServSafe, NRF and other training as needed.

· Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

· Ability to:

o Build rapport and work as a team within the Career Development Services department, the GIUMSC organization as a whole, and with outside partner agencies and employers

o Read, write, speak and understand English

o Carry out instruction in verbal and written format

o Communicate efficiently and effectively

o Interact and maintain a good working relationship with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds, and people with disabilities

o Work extended hours and various schedules and travel to local sites and work flexible hours as needed

Physical Requirements/Minimum Qualifications: Daily requirements may include climbing, balancing, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, stooping, kneeling, handling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. May be exposed to dust and odors. May be required to do limited work outdoors. Some travel may be required. Each associate should maintain a current and valid South Carolina driver’s license with limited points and/or traffic citations and adequate automobile liability insurance coverage.

Safety & Security: Responsible for following all safety, and security procedures as directed by GIUMSC policy. Report all accidents, however slight, to your supervisor immediately. Never leave the premises without reporting any accident that occurred during work time. If medical treatment is needed during non-work hours, the supervisor should be contacted.

Work Hours: Hours are between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday or whatever hours are required to meet the professional requirements of the job.

Work Attire: Casual business attire; however, professional business attire when appropriate. Each associate should present a fashionable, neat, and clean appearance that will be reflective of GIUMSC’s positive image in the community.
