SUMMARY

This is the lead level cashier for the Revenue Division in Finance. Provides a wide variety of specialized lead worker responsibilities for Cashiers consisting of distributing work, training, schedule coordination and providing lead customer service decisions for more complex issues in the Cashiering Unit of the Revenue Division. Incumbents conduct cash transactions, receiving checks and monies and making change, and are responsible to balance a cash drawer. Incumbents are also responsible for customer service by providing information, answering the telephone, and performing related activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides lead cashiering decisions related to more complex issues with customers, invoices, and City departments
  • Assists all team members with accomplishing the goals of the unit
  • Trains all new employees and assists with training on new policies, procedures, and system updates
  • Maintains written procedures for cashiering processes including appropriate internal controls and applicable state, federal, and city regulations
  • Acts as liaison with Systems Integrators troubleshooting cashiering technical issues
  • Ensures equal distribution of work for cashiering team and maintains calendars and schedules
  • Provides customer service to walk-in customers and over the telephone; receives payments via check and cash; makes change; directs customers and/or callers to appropriate internal individuals; answers routine questions and provides customers with requested forms, information, and/or paperwork
  • Posts revenues to appropriate general ledger accounts utilizing an automated financial accounting system
  • Receives, reviews, routes processes, prepares and issues business licenses
  • Counts, handles, dispenses currency, balances and reconciles multiple cash drawers
  • Maintains a variety of files and information related to department operations
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two years experience in cash handling; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
