WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST-ADV

The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Carnivore Specialist in the Wildlife Biologist – Advanced classification within our Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Division. The preferred work station for the Carnivore Specialist is Rhinelander (Onieda county). Alternative work stations include: Wausau (Marathon county), Madison (Dane county), Park Falls (Price county), and Spooner (Washburn county).

Position Summary :
Statewide leadership, oversight, direction, and management of the wolf, bear, and cougar programs in Wisconsin. This position develops wolf, bear, and cougar management policies for the Bureau and represents the department in presentations of these policies to administrators, the natural resources board, legislators, conservation organizations, and the public. Qualifications :
Applicants must describe education, training, and/ or experience in the following required qualifications to be at least minimally qualified for this position:

1. Wildlife conservation and management or large carnivores, highlighting experience with wolf, bear, and cougars

2. Wildlife population survey techniques and methodologies

In addition, preferred qualifications include:
1. Experience presenting technical information to nontechnical audiences

2. Experience with hunting and trapping techniques

3. Experience with harvest season management and implementation
