Call Taker

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2 years EMT or similar medical work experience
• Current CPR card
• Current EMD Certification (may be obtained within 120 days of hire)
• Independent decision making and problem solving ability
• Excellent Customer Service, Verbal, Written and Interpersonal communication skills
• CAD and data entry experience with 35 wpm is preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gathers information to books incoming calls through the CAD System.
• Listens to customers and records accurate information.
• Audits and correlates incoming paperwork.
• Interacts with field crews and dispatchers to relay accurate and timely information.
• Demonstrates ability to handle multiple crises at once and maintain composure.
• Monitors calls, resolves issues with customers, employees and agencies.
• Maintains a professional relationship with co-workers, field crews, and outside agencies.
• Works under general supervision; reports to Dispatch Supervisor(s), Director of Communications
• Processes administrative paperwork.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Physical requirements:

Occasional Field work (in times of emergencies);

walking/sitting; reaching/handling; carrying less than 25lbs; stooping; see job description for additional requirements.

Working Environment:

Office environment with extensive computer use. Decreased or minimal lighting for extensive periods of time.
