Call Center Specialist

Wayne County is looking for outgoing individuals who enjoy problem solving and working late hours.

DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES

Call Center Specialist needed for afternoon, midnight and weekend shifts in the Radio and Switchboard Unit of the Department of Public Services, Roads Division. The Call Center Specialist operates such communications equipment as switchboard, transmitters, receivers and other equipment. When operating the switchboard, this employee will receive calls from citizens, vendors, businesses, and other agencies. This employee receives incoming calls and places outgoing calls, receives and inputs complaints into the complaint system on the computer, refers complaints to the proper channels, gives information to the public when routine inquiries are made and performs related duties as required. This employee will also create and track SR tickets, initiate permit requests, and make park reservations, as well as following-up with division contacts and customers to ensure that customers issues have been resolved.

ELIGIBLE PERSONS

A high school diploma or its equivalent ; AND At least 3 years of full-time paid customer service experience; duties must include handling public inquiries, complaints, follow-up with customers, and data entry. NOTE: Applicants must describe their experience and training in sufficient detail to allow evaluation of their acceptability under the above qualifications.

TYPES OF TESTS

A Performance Test (Typing ) will be administered, along with A Written Test , covering knowledge of clerical duties including filing, map reading, basic computer operations and related abilities.
