Solidworks / CAD Specialist

Position Objective:

Our production drawing engineers are responsible for the engineering and translation of conceptual drawings into a readable and usable format for the following purposes: client approval/revision, shop construction, external vendor manufacturing, and direction/instruction for subcontractors.

This position will entail compilation of working drawings, measurements, technical drawings of existing elements and sourcing any additional missing information to prepare a single set of drawings that is readable and usable by client, shop, installation teams and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

1-2 years’ experience in design related field (Environmental Design, Industrial Design or Interior Design) or equivalent experience, preferably in retail environmental design
In-depth knowledge and proficiency in Solid works, CAD, and Sketch Up design software a must
Experience outputting files for printers, plotters, CNC routers, Lasers, and other peripheral equipment
Knowledge of manufacturing processes of wood, metal plastics, glass, composites and other engineering materials is desired
Knowledge of project management principles, including work-back scheduling
Must be comfortable with production in both Imperial and Metric units of measurements
Previous experience working within cross-functional teams
Knowledge of marketing design principles and methodology a plus
Willingness to occasionally work long days, nights or weekends to complete projects
Self-motivation – you like to figure out how to get the work done and do whatever it takes

Position Requirements and Benefits:

Must work well under pressure. Most projects are completed under compressed timelines
Strong communication skills, often times communicating with individuals whose English is a second language
Some travel possible. Up to 10%
Interview process will include a detailed review of Solidworks portfolio and skills
