CAD Designer

Position Title: CAD Designer

Location(s): Salt Lake City, UT

Core Responsibilities: The responsibilities of a CAD Designer are the following:

Design 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings using 3D CAD software tools in order to support the design, simulation, manufacture and testing of our customers products and processes.

Activities and duties:

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive:

  • Create 3D models, assemblies according to project specific inputs and requirements.
  • Create manufacturing drawings of assemblies and models including GD&T and B.O.M. information
  • Interpreting 2D drawings and layouts for migration into a 3D environment
  • Communicate with customers and team members regarding project scope, change requests and milestone completions
  • Track project progress against bid hours using sources available to ensure project initiatives are met
  • Make decisions concerning personal time management and task prioritization to deliver quality service, on time and under budget

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum four (4) years experience utilizing one or more 3D CAD packages is required
  • Mechanical Design/Drafting experience is required.
  • Experience with Aerospace structures and component design is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Active Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain security clearance is preferred
  • Siemens NX experience is a preferred
  • CATIA V5 experience is a plus
  • Fibersim experience is plus
  • TruNest experience is a plus
  • Ability to check manufacturing drawings to determine proper fit and function, correctness and completeness of information
  • Knowledge of general Manufacturing processes is required
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude, good reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Data Management and Configuration Management principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-starter with the ability to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Minimum of Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies, Computer Science or equivalent
  • CAD software certification, a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel for multi week assignments
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment and involves the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate on telephone and handle all calls in a professional and personable manner.
  • Vision must be good enough to read keyboards, computer screen, reference books, reports and other written documents
  • Ability to drive own or rental vehicle
  • Non-smoking environment
