BW Architect

Decision First Technologies (DFT) is an Atlanta based Business Intelligence professional services firm. We specialize in establishing Business Intelligence strategies, from setting initial Business/IT agendas to implementing applications and technologies by gathering, storing, analyzing and providing access to data. Our goal is to support and improve the decision-making process for our clients and help them plan for the future.

DFT is looking for individuals interested in taking lead roles in SAP Business Warehouse architecture activities to help our clients translate their information needs into the appropriate delivery methods for the organization. Activities include but not limited to:

• Participation in the end-to-end life cycle of business intelligence implementations on SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse and/or SAP BusinessObjects platform
• Effectively interact with business and functional teams to gather/develop functional and technical requirements and translate the requirements into robust analytics and reporting solutions
• Develop technical architecture designs which support a robust solution that considers user requirements, technical requirements, data models, architectures, etc.
• Develop the overall data designs of the Business Warehouse including BW InfoCubes (Basic Cubes, Multi-Cubes, Remote Cubes, and Aggregates); BW ODS Objects; BW Process Models and BW Enterprise Models
• Design and Create BW/BI procedures from data sources systems to other heterogeneous environments, ODS, OLAP databases, data marts, star schemas, or data warehouse
• Deliver BI Reporting using BEx Analyzer, BEx Query Designer, Web Application Designer (WAD), BusinessObjects, and Crystal Reports
• Analyze and tune the BW environment
• Complete project related documentation (naming standards, technical specifications, test plans etc. ) during the different stages of the project
• Deliver training and provide knowledge transfer to end user clients
• Work with clients to identify new areas within the business where the business warehouse or BI solution can be utilized to drive business results

Technical Skills:

Four years+ professional experience with one or more of the following required:

• Working knowledge of the SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse and ECC applications
• Experience with SAP NetWeaver BW installs and upgrades, specifically 3.5 to 7.3, a plus
• Experience in design and development of MultiProviders, InfoCubes, InfoSources, Transfer Structures, DataStore Objects (DSO), Transformations and Data Transfer Process (DTPs), InfoPackages, Transfer Rules and Update Rules
• Experience in data loading using Process Chains, Data Loading (Full/Delta Up-Load), Delta management, Monitoring, Performance Tuning using compression, aggregation and partitioning
• Experience in Dimensional Data Modeling and Star Schema design
• Experience in utilizing front-end BEx components in Queries, Workbooks, Calculated Key Figures, Restricted Key Figures, Structures, Customer Exits, Variables, Exceptions, Conditions, RRI, Ad-hoc Queries, Web Application Designer (WAD), Web Analyzer, Mobile reporting, Portal Integration and Information Broadcaster
• Understanding of BI/BW security authorization and concepts
• Advanced skills in writing SQL queries, views, and optimization of SQL queries

Ideal Experience:

Three years+ tool experience (one or more tool per category) is ideal

• BI tools (SAP NetWeaver BW, SAP BEx, BusinessObjects, BPC)
• RDBMS (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata, DB2, Sybase, MySQL Progress)
• Data warehouse appliances (SAP HANA, Netezza, Greenplum, Oracle, Exadata, Aster Data)
• Modeling tools (Erwin, PowerDesigner, Visio, Emarcadero)
• Web Technologies (i.e. java, web services, xml, cookies, tomcat, php, etc)

Soft Skills:

• Communication skills: strong presentation/communication/facilitation skills (oral and written)
• Strong planner and organizer with demonstrated ability to master new concepts quickly, incorporate the latest technologies, and develop business solutions that increase efficiency, productivity and profitability
• Work independently, as a team member and with minimal supervision at times
• Work in team environment at times
• Develop and implement solutions using Agile project management techniques
• Basic MS Excel and MS Project skills required
