Business Intelligence Services’ mission is delivering cutting edge visualizations and analytic solutions that empower Salt River Project to deliver innovative, cost-effective, solutions related to the delivery of power and water to approximately one million customers across the Phoenix Metro area.

You will be working in a collaborative, high-paced, environment alongside other individuals with a variety of IT and Non-IT backgrounds such as Database Analysts, Programmers, Architects, Business Representatives, Server Administrators, and Data Scientists. The varied perspectives and interactivity between team members help to ensure that products delivered are of high-value to SRP.

As a BI Developer at Salt River Project, your role is to be an expert at understanding SRP’s data and then creating the story around that data. We expect you to aid our business groups in drawing insight from our data. You will create dashboards, reports, visualizations, algorithms, and tools to solve interesting business problems for users across the enterprise. Job Responsibilities

  • Understanding your business stakeholders’ objectives, guiding them in a process to draw out the metrics that are the most important to them, and how they measure their performance.
  • Turning business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Finding and understanding the correct data sources for a given analysis.
  • Coding reports, dashboards, and visualizations using an enterprise toolset that includes visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI, R, Python, SAS and Hadoop to help your stakeholders improve their performance, and sometimes designing algorithms to decipher deeper why and how questions.
  • Telling a story with the solutions that you develop that provide the context to influence behavior at all levels of the company.
  • Learning from, and sharing knowledge and skills with your teammates to grow the team’s total impact to the organization.
  • Participate in the enterprise wide Analytics Community by contributing solutions, guidance and thought leadership in order to grow and develop analytic skills throughout SRP.

Additional Information

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a visualization development, data science, business analytics, business intelligence or comparable data engineering role, including data warehousing and business intelligence tools, techniques and technology
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI or equivalency to create impactful reports, visualizations, and interactive dashboards that influence behavior
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and comfort presenting to everyone from entry-level employees to executive staff
  • Ability to explain complicated or technical information in a simple way to non-technical audiences
  • Sensitivity to clients’ needs and able to develop warm client relationships
  • Curiosity and passion about data, visualization and solving problems
  • Creativity to determine the best solution for a real-world problem with quantitative data
  • Experience with reporting, descriptive statistics, probability, and cleaning big datasets
  • Willingness to question the validity, accuracy of data and assumptions
  • Enjoyment from collaborating with others in team environment
  • Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Drive and self-reliance

Preferred Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of ETL and data warehouse concepts and processes
  • Programming skills in Python to cleanse, manipulate, and present data
  • Programming skills in R for statistical modeling
  • Knowledge of SQL to write complex, highly-optimized queries across large volumes of data

Completion of Bachelor’s Degree degree in math, statistics, computer science, or equivalent technical field is strongly preferred.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.
