Business Intelligence Analyst

JOB SUMMARY: As the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst, you will use your data, analytic skills, and business acumen to develop data reporting and visualizations that spark insight for stakeholders across Western State (WSE). Together with our BI Solutions team and the Business Analysts, you will use agile methodologies to effectively plan, create, implement, and manage BI visualization solutions. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to deliver data driven insights that clearly define what it means to win at all levels and illustrate opportunities for continuous improvement at WSE. This position will report to the BI Solutions Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the business to deliver tangible data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical reporting through Microsoft Power BI, SSRS, Share Point, Power Apps/Flow, or other analytic platforms that are validated, timely, relevant, and in alignment with our corporate strategy.
  • Performs reporting/analytics requirement definition, design, development, testing, data validation, and deployment activities for new and existing production solutions and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Acts as an internal consultant to work across company divisions to provide and/or interpret information.
  • Participates in the design, development, and maintenance of internal database infrastructures.
  • Participates in data governance and validation to ensure quality data.
  • Ensures defined best practices, standards, and guidelines are followed during development.
  • Creates and manages documentation and organization of analytic solutions.
  • Participates in the support of the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP environment where applicable.
  • Trains users on analytic solutions and provides technical assistance when needed.
  • Adheres to all customer care standards.
  • Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Adheres to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States’ strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Works within and promotes corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Power Apps, MS Office 365
  • Working knowledge of Web development techniques.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts and data warehouse designs.
  • General knowledge of business systems.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to speak, read, comprehend, and write in English.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to keep current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the software industry.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field or equivalent experience.
  • Requires two years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Excel for reporting solutions.
  • Requires experience creating database objects (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, etc.).
  • Requires experience creating dashboards and visualizations.
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, Flow, or other BI tools is preferred.
  • Experience with ASP.Net, C# is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP software is preferred.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
