Business Financial Analyst, Junior

As a dynamic Business Financial Analyst you will report directly to the CEO, with joint responsibility to the leadership of the Corporate Accounting & Finance (A&F) team. This role is critical to the effective financial management and control of FreeBalance worldwide business operations. You will be responsible for supporting FreeBalance management in implementing and maintaining effective cost controls and achievement of corporate financial objectives. You will work closely with the CEO, Regional VP’s, and Project Managers to create, update and provide timely and accurate regional financial information to Corporate Accounting and Finance team. You will be responsible for the monitoring of project revenue and costs against budgets, to ensure the proactively identification of variations from budgets early and working with the teams to mitigate financial issues.

The Business Financial Analyst must be flexible with working hours in order to accommodate meetings in various time zones, must meet tight deadlines across complex projects in numerous countries, and be willing to travel to various countries up to 50% of the time.

Main Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed expense analysis regional, departmental and project expenses against budgets and forecasts.
• Implement and improve effective methods for the management of expense controls to support achievement of financial objectives.
• Monitor / participate in approvals of expenditures against budgets for key expense areas and identify deviations from budgets early in the cycle.
• Analyze project level of effort and cost variances against forecasts, for early identification of divergences from forecasts to enable mitigation strategies to be identified and implemented.
• Provide financial expertise and support to Regional VPs and Project Managers in the creation and management of project financial tools including the development and management of project level resource and cost forecasts.
• Support Project Management for project “level of effort” verification, forecasting and overall balancing of personnel resources along.
• Ensure that VPs and Project Managers provide timely project level reports to Corporate Accounting and Finance.
• Provide general financial controls support to the CEO, Regional VPs and Managers
• Identify opportunities for automation of financial controls, research options for tools and make recommendations for improvement. Implement new tools to maximize effectiveness & efficiency of cost controls.

Qualifications:

• Minimum University degree in Business, Commerce or Accounting.
• Financial Designation such as CPA or equivalent is considered an asset
• Minimum 3 years similar financial analysis experience, preferably in software industry.
• Enthusiastic, highly motivated person with ability to enforce cost controls at all levels of the company.
• Strong analytical skills with multi-tasking abilities
• Experience with a variety of cost control systems
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Spanish is considered an asset.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time worldwide.
