Job Overview:
Responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies by communicating and clarifying business needs, contributing to development of long-range systems plans, and ensuring technology products and services are aligned with business needs. Conduct business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost versus benefit measurement. Proactively identify opportunities to apply technologies to business processes. Inform and advise customer on technologies, functionality, cost, benefits, and implementation requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Business Consultant will need to drive discussions around new and emerging platforms and help determine the best way to utilize new technologies to build business solutions. The Business Consultant must be able to synthesize current state processes, operating models, and ways of working in order to define new, digitally oriented clarity on requirements. The role will work across a diverse stakeholder group, driving consensus, and creating a shared understanding of detailed requirements in conjunction with technical delivery.

Responsible for conducting complex and thorough research of existing processes, systems, systems logic, and desired objectives to develop detailed systems specifications to meet the objectives of the assigned projects.

Eliciting and creating initial epics/features and elaborating into user stories that clearly describe the functional and non-functional requirements.

Delivers business requirements via artifacts such as epics, features, stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, wireframe diagrams, interaction diagrams, mockups/demos, etc.

Prioritizing and sequencing the backlog of epics/features/user stories according to business value, throughout the release and sprint planning cycles.

Collaborate with a cross-functional teams inside a Scrum framework. Help steer the Agile transformation of crew systems.

Leveraging knowledge of business goals, contemporary digital platforms and technologies, the Business Consultant should translate strategies and visionary statements into detailed requirements for technical delivery.

Provide strategic support to customer in defining or designing business processes and help to identify technologies based on customer requirements.

Advice on options, risks, cost versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and systems.

Coordinate multi-system solutions to clarify interdependencies so that systems appear seamless to the customer.

This role will provide direction, coaching and mentoring to less experienced team members.

Basic Entry Requirements:
Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Information Systems, with at least six (6) years of experience in IT business analysis or equivalent user research experience. Experience should include working closely with business unit / business technology teams, Product Owner experience including requirements definition, user research, user stories, partnering with development and QA teams to build, test, and deliver high quality user experience.

Airline business experience, as well as business process re-engineering and/or extensive experience working with agile teams, is desirable.

Major Skills and Competencies:
Plan and coordinate the execution and delivery of a product roadmap through close collaboration with UX/UI designers, engineering teams, quality assurance, and third party vendors.

Define product requirements in partnership with stakeholders and in alignment with the overall product strategy.

Communicate effectively and consistently with customers, partners, business and technical teams and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders. Fosters open communication by encouraging the expression of ideas and opinions.

Integrate usability studies, research and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction.

A passionate commitment to user-centered design and development.

Extensive knowledge of product and software development techniques and agile methodologies.

Acting as a proxy for the business on managing competing priorities, throughout the software development lifecycle.

Expert knowledge of the Agile development methodologies and corresponding tools (ex. JIRA/Confluence)

Ability to negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among representatives from various business and development teams

Ability to facilitate meetings and requirements definition and be a liaison between internal/external customers, developers and stakeholders.

Creates a climate in which people want to do their best; can motivate many kinds of direct reports and team members; empowers others; invites input from team members and shares ownership and visibility.
