Business Applications Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Symphony is looking to hire a business applications developer as part of the Business Operations Team in our New York office.

You’ll provide internal support to all Symphony Departments in the development, implementation and customization of business applications the company currently uses or may implement in the future.

Participate in global projects and assists in setting business operations policies along with the team and assist in user support, development requests and other ad hoc projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, troubleshoot, support, maintain and enhance Salesforce.com, Jira, Zendesk, Netsuite, domo.com and other business applications in use as per business process and project needs
  • Gather business requirements for new internal projects
  • Implement systems and cloud based business application software both internally and client facing
  • Work on projects alongside rest of Business Operations / Information Technology team
  • Monitor and troubleshoot systems to correct technical issues that impede development or day-to-day operations
  • Train/educate users on internal applications and new deployments for best practices
  • Determine departmental needs, participate in vendor selection and/or assist with gathering business requirements
  • Coordinate vendor escalations and support for critical issues, acting as a bridge between the vendors’ engineering resources and Business Operations team.
  • Work outside usual hours of business during outages and business emergencies
  • Develop and create customized reports and dashboards
  • Keep abreast of new applications supported features and functionality, and provide recommendations for improvements and keep users informed about system functionality and enhancements, including third party vendor solutions to help enhance our business processes
  • Create and document application requirements by working with end users on development of program enhancements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • BS in CS or other field, or equivalent working experience
  • 2+ years professional software development
  • Minimum 1 year experience as administrator and developer in Salesforce.com or experience with technical implementations of Salesforce.com
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced startup environment and display flexibility as priorities change to reflect our fast growing business
  • Available to work outside usual hours of business during outages and business emergencies
  • Understanding of Marketing Automation systems, Support / Ticketing systems, B.I. reporting systems and Accounting Systems (e.g. Hubspot, Zendesk, Domo, Netsuite, etc.)
  • Understanding of web development technologies: HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, VisualForce
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work closely and effectively with internal business teams, end users and servers
  • Able to travel as needed < 20%

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of core technical competencies, including computer architecture and design
  • Some experience developing in a modern high-level language, such as Java, Python, etc
  • Some experience with technologies including: Apex, JavaScript, SOAP, REST, JSON, SOQL
  • Experience with security models, access control, permissioning, and sharing rules for supported applications
  • Ability to think through multiple solutions to a problem set and look ahead for possible conflicts
  • Basic understanding of MS SQL server, Visual studio
