Business Analyst – Financial Systems

The Financial Systems Business Analyst position provides a unique opportunity to gain insight into the worldwide financial data flows for a segment of IBM’s Software Group that is growing rapidly. Use of Agile business practices is also expanding in the industry and exposure to IBM’s adoption will provide insight.

The Financial Systems Analyst will work in and agile environment, be responsible for control and monitoring of end to end financial data flows from the order management system (SAP) through to General ledgers, Accounts Receivable and other downstream systems. Work with stakeholders and others in a multidisciplinary team to define requirements and develop the solution for new project work

Perform day-to-day controls, play an analyst role in documenting requirements for projects, enhancements or defect corrections. Will participate in testing and move to production readiness. The role will develop procedures and documentation to provide a measure of consistency in processes, reporting and completion of work requests. Will provide user support and detailed analysis when data questions arise.

Participate in daily Agile scrum (stand up) calls to provide update on tasks completed, in progress and any blockers.

Liaison with accounting, finance and IT teams to provide support to business stakeholders for financial systems data questions

Work cooperatively with accounting and finance staff to troubleshoot technical issues.

Ensure monthly scheduling and processes are completed timely and accurately.

Perform reconciliations by General ledger account to source system

Perform testing of data from source system to end ledger systems

Participate in Internal / external audits as need to provide data and or documentation

Participate in special projects and information requests for accounting, finance and IT teams.

Fully participate iteration planning, squad retrospective and showcase meetings

Participate in workshops to complete discovery new projects presented to the team

Contribute solutions and guidance in improving squad processes

Continued development of skills.

Innovation and continues improvement

Client and team interaction with strong written and oral communication and listening skills

Must have the ability to work in the US without current/future need for IBM sponsorship

Staying relevant to emerging trends in areas related to Information Management

BS in Accounting, Finance, Accounting Information Systems or related degree

0 – 5 plus years demonstrated experience accounting and operational business processes and reporting.

Demonstrated organizational, presentation, analytical and problem solving skills, team player and self-starter

Cognos, Excel, QMF, Microsoft Office Products, SQL,

Experience / Understanding of AGILE practices
