The main responsibilities in this position will be to solicit business priorities, processes, and requirements from Business Owners and stakeholders; develop documentation of business requirements, use cases, workflows, and functional specifications to technical and delivery teams; work with the business and Quality Assurance testing teams to validate functionality and usability of business processes and applications; and continuously improving the business, IT, A&R, engagement model.

The employee will work across clinical teams, A&R, and IT staff to ensure clear understanding of business priorities, enterprise priorities, IT requirements and constraints, and deliverables and timelines. The ideal candidate will help identify strategies for meeting business needs while ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The various responsibilities of the business analyst include: researching and producing requirements, gathering and writing business requirements/functional specifications/use cases, documenting business processes, performing workflow analysis, acting as liaison between the customer and the technical team, collaborating with the project manager on solution delivery, documenting application information including user manuals, and providing project management support as needed. The employee is responsible for leading requirements sessions, facilitating discussion to resolve issues, and managing business and technical resources to sign off on requirements and design. Additional duties will include developing test plans and test scripts, training materials, providing analytical expertise to support process improvement, developing SLAs and SOWs, and defining and establishing business analysis/business liaison processes and procedures.

A candidate should also possess effective communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. The employee will be expected to understand issues of data integrity and data relationship. The employee will develop extensive knowledge of business requirements/functional requirements/use cases and working with both agile and waterfall methodologies and tools. Additionally, the employee should be familiar with healthcare population management and analytics, including clinical, claims, and data driven healthcare decision making and processes, as well as physician and hospital practices/workflow. The employee must be able to work independently while being accountable to a team of clinical, technical, and project management experts. The position requires skills in summarizing complex data and information in various formats and media; verbally, graphically, and in writing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a four-year degree in business or healthcare related field required
  • Business analysis experience required
  • Business analysis certification (IIBA, BABOK) or Lean Six Sigma certification highly preferred
  • Healthcare experience highly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of healthcare quality improvement, and cost containment concepts
  • Knowledge of agile and waterfall project management methodologies
  • Superior analytical, facilitation, and liaison skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple priorities, and escalate effectively
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Experience with healthcare data preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with an ability to translate complex ideas into clear, easy-to-understand concepts. Ability to present complex concepts in graphical and non-technical language
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver quality work on time
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to drive issues to resolution
  • Independence, initiative, resourcefulness, and an attitude of teamwork and service

  • Position is a full time (e.g 8 hours/day) office-based position
