The Budget Technician monitors and maintains cost accounting records for Facility Management Service (FMS). Responsible for administrative input of funding requests into the FMS fund control system during the budget year, and consequently takes part in budget preparation for future funds. Maintains and monitors current funds control records for all control points assigned. Responsible for determining that all transactions are properly processed. Assigns the appropriate fund control and cost center. Monitors available balance in all control points and advises when additional funds are required. Prepares requests for additional funds and transfers funds as required. Assists supervisors in analyzing cost data and reviews estimates. Provides information for short and long term projections. Receives requisitions for purchase of supplies, equipment, and services. Assists other governmentpurchase card holders inFMS in the accomplishment of all card holder duties. Maintains service contract records; obtains cost estimates, and consolidates equipment maintenance and repair budget needs. Maintain time and leave accounts for various sections of FMS.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule, but schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of the organization.

One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position at the GS-5 grade level. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in Federal service.

Specialized Experience that is typically in or related to the position to be filled includes: using various steps and procedures required to perform a full range of accounting, budget, or other financial management support duties related to recurring or standardized finance transactions.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee maycomfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as paper and books.

Time-in-Grade Restriction – Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service.

You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

Ability to use a variety of computer programs and software applications.
