Big Data Developer – Entry Level

What you’ll be doing…

Join our Technology team where you will work on new technologies and find ways to meet our customers’ needs and make it easy for them to do business with us. You will work fairly independently on more complex operational & technical projects, issues, systems, and applications. You will use your experience, expertise, and skills to solve problems that are more difficult & infrequent.

This position is for an ambitious self-starter with good background in Business Intelligence or Data warehouse data analysis and a strong sense of intellectual curiosity to understand and solve business problems. You’ll be studying data of our call center and billing applications to help our customers and reduce cost. You will work with the marketing teams to understand their metrics needs and support them in analysis and reporting. Additionally, you will work on reporting and metrics for IT transformation initiatives to ensure that the value is delivered per expectations.

• Gather and maintain data across Teradata, Hadoop and HIVE.
• Data extraction, transformation and ETL using Teradata and Hadoop.
• Analyze the data using big data tools to identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and drive revenue generation, including Python, R, SQL, HiveQL, Java, R.
• Develop models and use cases for engagement and socialization with the business.
• Self-starter: Able to work independently and multitask under short deadlines based on general directions.

What we’re looking for…

• Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
• Knowledge of SQL, Scala and/or R.
• Knowledge of data analytics.

Even better if you have:

• A degree.
• Knowledge of SQL programming – Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages and creation of Objects – Tables, Views, Triggers, Sequences, Synonyms.
• Knowledge of using different databases such as HIVE and PostgeSQL.
• Knowledge of performance/scalability tuning, algorithms, and computational complexity.
• Knowledge of a variety of data formats and protocols of structured and unstructured data.
• Ability to analyze data and identify business opportunities.
• Ability to analyze large volume of data and identify patterns.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
