Are you passionate about solving real world problems with advanced analytics? Expedia is looking for a BI developer to join the ARM team for the world’s largest travel site. Your work will affect 1000’s of hotels.

The main focus of your job will be to own end to end analytics needs for a functional area to support our hotel partners. You are willing to learn the business side of your functional area to provide analytics. You should have both – a “Developer” mentality to make sure all code conforms to standards/versioning/testing and step into the shoes of an analyst, where you will represent the data visually to tell a compelling story to your partners. You will act as an analytics consultant to help provide recommendations. A self-starter is ideal.

A typical day in your role would include knowing all upstream data flows in your functional areas, developing a deeper understanding of what metrics should the business be looking at for the success of the functional area, working closely with Enterprise Data-Warehouse (EDW), sourcing that data into dimensional tables, and ultimately standardizing and visualizing that data via Tableau.

You should be adept to working in a dynamic environment. You are super organized and able to juggle work on a need basis. This team operates as a startup and does not have separate PM or test teams to translate business talk to technical and vice-versa. You are expected to do that as needed for the areas that you own. The analysis and visualization that you will provide will be used to make key business decisions. It is important that you are comfortable asking the right questions and validating your work and analysis.

TECHNOLOGIES:
1. Tableau (For all visualization) – You have experience or willingness to learn. You will spend 90% of your time in Tableau.

2. SQL querying – You are proficient in writing highly flexible code in SQL Server (Or Teradata). You need to be 8+/10 in this area

3. ETL – You are adept to coding ETL’s/using ODBC connectors. You need to be 8+/10 in this area.

4. Plus – You have experience with Machine Learning algorithms like regressions etc.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Apply mathematical or statistical theory and methods to collect, interpret, and summarize numerical data to provide usable information for internet travel service company.
• Specifically, support the conception, development, and implementation of innovative workflow, reporting, and analysis solutions. Responsible for sourcing, organizing, maintaining, and ultimately democratizing large volumes of data through the development of innovative tools, reporting dashboards and well-organized databases.
• Conduct data analysis to make business recommendations (cost-benefit, impact analysis, product/initiative success, course correction recommendations).
• Ability to deliver effective presentations and tell a simple story of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.
• Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand their business needs, formulate and complete end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables and presentations.
• Develop a vision and roadmap for analytics across a product or functional group.
• Own relationships with functional partners and product managers.
