Benefits & Wellness Program Coordinator

Position Purpose

The Benefits & Wellness Coordinator will support over 9,000 Dartmouth College employees, retirees, and family members. This position will play an active role in shaping and implementing Dartmouth’s wellness and benefits programs and will support both the Wellness at Dartmouth office and the Human Resources Benefits team. Key responsibilities will involve communication, development, implementation, research and administrative support.

Skills & Knowledge

Knowledge of current principles, theories and best practices related to worksite health promotion programs and employee benefits

Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Strong promotional communication development skills (e.g. posters, flyers, emails)

Strong organizational skills and an ability to plan and prioritize work

Ability to work independently and as a team member

Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Proficiency with Photoshop or similar design software preferred, but not required

Website content management experience and Social Media proficiency preferred, but not required

Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple demands and competing priorities

Strong ability to manage and develop relationships

Demonstrated analytical, project management and writing/research skills

Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community

Demonstrated interest in improving the quality of life of others

Minimum Experience

Three to five years of experience in health promotion/education/communication/consulting/employee benefits, or a related field

Demonstrated skill and proficiency in providing education on health and wellness related topics such as nutrition, exercise, weight management, stress management, mindfulness, and tobacco cessation of interest, but not required

Minimum Education

Associate’s degree

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Interest in human resources, specifically employee benefits and wellness, highly desired.

Key Accountabilities

Program Administration

Plays an active role in designing, implementing, promoting and evaluating current and new initiatives for Wellness at Dartmouth, such as comprehensive well-being programs, campus-wide challenges, benefit redesigns, recognition programs, mental health awareness efforts, healthy food choices, tobacco cessation, stairwell campaign, preventive screening awareness, onsite health stations, incentives, and others to be determined.

Researches and contributes to the development of workplace policies related to the well-being of Dartmouth’s population.

Plays a key role in the development and implementation of events.

Establishes close partnerships across departments and with external partners.

Communication

Creates content for the Wellness at Dartmouth newsletter and wellness bulletin boards and manages the newsletter subscriber base.

Coordinates responses for the Wellness email inbox and phone inquiries.

Manages the Wellness at Dartmouth Facebook page, Instagram page, and stays abreast of Social Media trends.

Keeps the Wellness Ambassador network abreast of upcoming programs and events and helps capture feedback.

Creates communication materials for a diverse suite of wellness and benefits campaigns.

Creates (or expands on) wellness and benefits content for established (and new) communication vehicles, including but not limited to Wellness at Dartmouth website, Benefits website, Facebook, Instagram and VOX Daily Updates.

Maintains and updates the Wellness at Dartmouth and Benefits websites.

Assists with wellness and benefits compliance notices and associated communications.

Other

Conducts comprehensive research on peer wellness and benefits programs.

Assists with the creation and implementation of surveys, gathers data and produces and analyzes data including summary of findings and actionable recommendations.

Stays abreast of applicable health and well-being and benefits related awards and completes any applications for submission.

Develops talking points, briefing materials and PowerPoint presentations.

Assists with the College Benefit Council meeting scheduling, presentations, and taking meeting minutes.

Assists with coordination of various meetings including scheduling, room reservations, room set up, and technology needs.

Monitors and follows up on projects and develops systems for tracking action items.
