Benefits Aides advise employees, retirees, and dependents regarding employer provided benefit programs, eligibility for medical and dental coverage and payroll deductions. Responsibilities include day-to-day support in the administration of benefit programs, such as initiation of vendor file transfers and retiree reporting processes. Aides also participate in auditing and reconciliation of benefits enrollment records and deductions. Benefits Aides work regularly with the City’s eCHRIS (PeopleSoft) database.

The ideal candidate will possess significant discretion is required to create, process and control highly sensitive information; a sustained high degree of attention is required to maintain accuracy of records; ability to quickly learn and adapt to new benefit strategies, rules and programs; demonstrated high level of communication skill, both written and verbal; ability to meet deadlines.

This recruitment may be used for any vacancies over the life of the eligible list.

SALARY

$17.31 (minimum) – $25.76 (maximum) hourly / $36,005 – $53,581 annually.

Comprehensive benefits package includes: 11.5 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, 15 sick days, free bus/light rail pass, traditional pension and 457/401 plans, tuition reimbursement upon hire, choice of Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Cigna HMO, PPO. For more details, visit:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a benefits position that requires very strong attention to detail and well developed customer service skills OR an associate’s degree in human resources, public administration, or business administration plus one year of benefits related work experience.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– The job requirements listed above, plus:

  • Experience using Benefits modules in PeopleSoft
  • Excel and Word proficiency
