Behavioral Health Counselor

Functions as primary counselor for clients with substance abuse or co-occurring disorders. Conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial and other assessments. Provides substance abuse and mental health treatment services; develops and implements comprehensive individualized treatment plans and treatment plan updates; implements MET and Seeking Safety intervention; delivers group, individual and family counseling services that including HIV/AIDS risk-reduction activities; delivers client didactic education, and community education; conducts home visits.

Maintains working knowledge of agency identified best practices; maintains clinical caseload; Maintain clinical records in compliance with agency, local and federal guidelines. Ensure that documentation indicates compliance with timelines

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in field of mental health counseling, social work, psychology, or related human services field with at least two years work experience working with substance abuse patients. Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred. Certification in substance abuse counseling preferred. Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, and strong computer literacy including data entry and spreadsheet management. VI Residents only! VI Valid Driver License.
