Backend Services Engineer (Junior)

Bethesda Game Studios is seeking a qualified Backend Services Engineer (Junior) to join our team. The position involves improving monitoring by instrumenting code, creating dashboard, and generating reports. A large percentage of the time will be spent troubleshooting emergent issues and working with other team members on solutions.

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to learn about the implementation and continuing support of horizontally scalable online services in an asynchronous environment. This is an entry level position that can lead to a more senior role architecting and implementing new services and features for the right individual.

Responsibilities

• Create dashboards and reports for monitoring backend services

• Manage and extend load tests to simulate launch conditions

• Troubleshoot issues that arise in developer environments and during load testing

• Enhance and maintain existing backend services

• Develop tools and quality of life improvements

• Work closely with other members of the team

Requirements :

• 1+ years of experience in an engineering/programming role using languages such as Go, C++, C#, Java, Python, NodeJS, or Ruby

• Strong desire to learn how to develop online applications using Go

• Experience with working in Linux and Windows environments

• Strong coding, algorithm design, debugging skills

• Demonstrate a desire to continually learn and hone skills

• Must be able to self-manage while taking responsibility of tasks and time

• BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Desired Skills:

• 1+ year(s) of production Golang experience

• Experience creating dashboards using a tool such as Grafana

• Experience with log analysis tools such as Splunk, Sumo Logic, Logstash, or EFK

• Experience working on load testing systems

• Experience with Amazon Web Services or other cloud solutions

• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases and data modeling (MongoDB, Redis, MySQL)

• Experience with Docker

• Experience with Messaging Systems (RabbitMQ)

• Knowledge of browser-based technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, AJAX

• Experience working with source control (git, Perforce)

• Strong familiarity with Bethesda Game Studios games
