Back End Developer

As a Back End Developer at Poppin, you will play a pivotal role building and enhancing the systems and integrations that power our business. You will help fortify and extend our ERP, build new and expand existing middleware applications, integrate with other third party systems (like different warehouse solutions), and help shape our technology and AWS based infrastructure for future expansion.

We are looking to build solutions for four major components in the next two years:

• Product and Inventory management
• CRM
• ERP
• Data warehouse

We are looking for someone who can collaborate with our New York team as well as our offshore team in the Ukraine to help architect and build these tools from the ground up, while supporting our existing systems.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter, and insightful decision maker, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Someone who understands and knows how to prioritize business and customer needs and is able to translate them into well-architected software solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and support of features on our core Java platform
• Build extensions and web services to our ERP, platform, and e-commerce systems
• Automate key areas of our business
• Collaborate with team members to solve complex business problems through technology
• Contribute to brown bags, code reviews, and retrospectives to continually improve the team
• Help drive our DevOps tools and processes forward

You must have:

• Very strong Java Experience
• Very strong experience with SQL and Relational Database Design
• Strong experience working with TDD
• Strong experience with integrations to third party systems and APIs (ERP, fulfillment, etc.)
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Experience with web services and REST
• Proficient with Git, Unix, Jenkins
• Good understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 (SASS)
• Familiar with Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, Loadbalancing)
• Familiar with shell scripting/UNIX command line tools

Nice to haves:

• Experience with microservices
• Experience in e-commerce
• Experience with Node.js or ReactJS
• Experience with NoSQL databases
• Experience with Messaging Queues, Redis, OAuth
