GDA has been creating public and private engineering and surveying projects throughout the mountain west since 1953. We offer comprehensive design and consulting services in aviation, transportation, land development, municipal, and survey imagery and mapping.

About the Position

Aviation Planning at GDA will include State System Plans, Airport Master Plans, Airport Layout Plans, Airport Terminal Area Plans, Environmental Assessments, and environmental sub-studies (like CATEXs).

Required experience includes knowledge and application of all FAA guidance documents, rules, regulations, and procedures to develop full Airport Master Plans and environmental documents. The Aviation Planner will apply acquired aviation knowledge to match communities with right-sized airports. The successful applicant will have an experiential understanding of accepted data gathering and forecasting techniques, development of alternatives and opportunities, and in the development of Airport Layout Plans. A broad understanding of aviation, on and off the airport, is expected. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The ability to lead public outreach and interaction is essential.

Desired additional experience includes environmental, land use and/or other related areas; experience as a market leader; business development; project management; scope and fee development; and personnel supervision. This position will be located in our Cody, Wyoming, Heber City, Utah, or Boise, Idaho office.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field (Master’s degree in planning or related field preferred)
  • Minimum five years of experience in airport planning
  • AICP Certification, or obtain certification within one year of hire
  • Pilot’s license preferred
  • Participation in aviation professional societies preferred (AOPA, AAAE, NWAAAE, etc.)
