AUDITOR, OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. At least three years of professional auditing or related experience is required.

Professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Inspector General Airport (CIGA) preferred.

A Master’s degree in accounting or other business discipline is preferred.

The Miami-Dade County Office of Inspector General (OIG) is seeking an experienced, professional Auditor to augment its staff. The OIG’s mission is to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, waste, mismanagement, misconduct, and abuse of power through independent oversight of County affairs. OIG Auditors analyze and evaluate the management and performance of County departments and programs, which are held accountable as responsible stewards of public funds.

NATURE OF WORK

Professionals in this position examine and evaluate management activities in County departments, as well as organizations and commercial firms having contractual or fiscal relationships with Miami-Dade County. Auditors ensure the reliability and integrity of information; the efficient use of resources, the accomplishment of goals and objectives; and compliance with contractual obligations, procedures, laws, and regulations. Additionally, auditors assess the adequacy of internal controls used to protect the assets of the County by conducting audits, reviews, and management studies. Auditors support the Investigative Unit by providing forensic accounting assistance. Audits are performed in accordance with the Government Auditing Standards, July 2007 Revision, issued by the Comptroller General of the United States and consistent with the Association of Inspectors General’s Principles and Standards for Office of Inspector General, Quality Standards for Audits.
