Auditor I

Under close supervision of the Director, conducts audits and develops recommendations.

Responsibilities

Performs assigned audit under direction of a Director, or segment of audit under the direction of a senior auditor.

Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of operating and internal controls.

Assists in the selection of audit procedures and performing audit program.

Prepares working papers summarizing evidentiary data obtained and conclusions researched.

Discusses results of work with senior auditor, including deficiencies found and recommends corrective action.

Participates in writing findings developed during the audit.

Prepares analyses, reports, and other audit tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

Knowledge of audit standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines applicable to governmental and MTA Agency specific regulations.

Basic understanding of COSO framework on effective internal control

Ability to interact effectively with staff and management

Progress towards certification (CIA/CISA/CPA etc.) and/or graduate degree in business-related areas.

Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Auditing, Computer Science or other related business or operational field.

Up to one year experience in internal control/technology/contract type auditing or related industry experience.

Other Information

As an employee of MTA Headquarters you may be required to complete an annual financial disclosure statement with the State of New York, if your position earns more than $97,448 (this figure is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy maker.
