Associate Product Manager

Chances are, pretty much everything you see has been shipped, often multiple times, in order to get there. With the shift to e-commerce parcel shipping is growing rapidly. Creating a compelling shipping experience for customers is hard. The industry is fragmented with a multitude of different carriers and service options. Individual carrier APIs vary widely and are often difficult to implement. Shippo connects businesses to multiple shipping carriers, letting them compare rates, generate labels, and track shipments. As an Associate Product manager, you will mock up concepts, write functional specs, write copy and do whatever it takes to express your ideas to our engineers, designers and other product managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to effectively engage with our developer community to improve our products and increase functionality
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to define, document, and communicate objectives, requirements and constraints for product initiatives and releases
• Manage projects and facilitate communication with key stakeholders by communicating development status and document progress toward milestones
• Work closely with all team members to facilitate a shared understanding of our customers, product and the corresponding vision
• Think through product problems from end to end: user experience & design, technical implementation, marketing planning, effects on competitive positioning, marketing planning, etc.

Requirements:

• Strong analytical and communication skills–solving a diverse range of problems and being able to communicate clearly about them
• Strong technical understanding in building APIs and experience working directly with engineers and engineering management
• Passionate, collaborative, hands on, communicative and able to thrive in a fast paced environment with a heavy dose of ambiguity
• Comfortable communicating with our internal engineers and engineering management, as well as our engineering-focused customers
• High attention to detail, a natural problem solver and able to ask good questions about technical problems
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a technical field (computer science, math, physics, social science) or experience building web products
