Associate Java Developer

Cars.com is seeking a Java Application Developer intern to join our Data team. The Associate Java Developer intern will be responsible for the building and maintenance of Cars.com data engineering systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and develop code artifacts, create release notes and support documentation
• Assist Quality Assurance engineers in issue identification, isolation and remediation issues during formal QA cycles
• Participate in the resolution of challenging and demanding problems across multiple technical topographies
• Proactively identify issues and escalate to pertinent team members; update project team lead on work status

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Ability to work in a cross-functional working environment (i.e. Product Owner, ScrumMaster, UX Designer and Architecture
• Excellent problem solving skills and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to quickly assess problems and determine proper steps to resolution
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid understanding of web application and software development, standards and methodologies
• Experience with REST-ful web services is a plus
• Strong knowledge of common J2EE technologies and MVC frameworks (e.g. Spring) or data engineering frameworks such as Spark.
• Experience with relational/SQL, Hadoop and/or noSQL data platforms
• Self-starter mentality
• Agile/Learn/Scrum (i.e. iterative experience)
