Associate Financial Analyst

Under the direction of the Finance leadership, the Associate Financial Analyst will support the finance team in developing and preparing a variety of simple to moderately complex financial analyses in an accurate and timely fashion. These reports will allow the Finance Leadership team to monitor ongoing business perform against plans, forecasts, etc.

This entry position will provide support to all levels of the Finance team. Responsibilities include the preparation of a combination of routine and ad-hoc analyses in support of the ongoing strategic business initiatives including, but not limited to, financial support of provider contract negotiations, premium reconciliation process, monthly expense accruals, invoice tracking and the establishment of sound financial controls.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and must be able to demonstrate analytical and technical skills required to prepare and maintain such analyses, including information gathering through oral and written communication. The successful candidate shall possess the ability to learn quickly and translate data into clear and actionable results. The Healthcare Analyst must also demonstrate strong organizational skills and a solid working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, Power Point and other business software

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparation of monthly schedules in support of the preparation and distribution of monthly management oversight reporting packages
• Assist in the development and tracking of monthly administrative cost accruals in support of monthly financial close
• Preparation of monthly medical trend/utilization analysis
• Other ad-hoc analysis in support of overall business performance goals/objectives
• No direct reports
• Works collaboratively with other members of the Finance team
• Performs analytic project work assigned by manager with minimal supervision
• Under the supervision of Finance team leadership, develop and maintains analysis as required to meet defined objectives
• Participate in or support multiple projects simultaneously
• Collaborates with finance leadership to validate results in light of expected outcomes
• Investigate unusual results and offers explanations
• Examines and interprets results in the context of the specific business questions being addressed
• Identifies new questions and/or unforeseen data complexities arising from results and takes steps to address them
• Integrates information from multiple sources to interpret results in larger business context
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate results of analyses to Finance Team leadership
• Maintain routine monthly analysis which clearly demonstrate link between analysis and business goals/strategies
• College degree required with concentration in Mathematics, Economics, Finance or Accounting
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g., excel, Word, Power Point, etc.) and other desktop software packages as may be required
• Good verbal and written skills
• Ability to present results clearly and concisely to finance leadership
• Able to operate in a matrix environment
• Able to identify issues and roadblocks and participate in their resolution
• Receives regular management review of selected projects and processes
• Develop ability to apply own judgment on assignments/tasks with an eye towards producing them in a timely and efficient manner
• Must be able to work collaboratively and efficiently with other team members
• Successful candidate with be able to regular interface with all levels of Finance team

• Fast paced office environment
• Ability to works on personal computer approximately 70% of the time
• Must be able to exercise appropriate judgement
