Associate Engineer (Entry Level) – Product Line

Description
The Product Line Engineer is responsible for the equipment and procedures that support the handling and examining of spent naval nuclear fuel. This includes preparing for and executing the receipt, installation, testing, checkout and maintenance of government supplied equipment. This also includes the design and procurement of support equipment. A Product Line Engineer will be responsible for providing deliverables to an overall project plan while meeting all naval nuclear program requirements and standards. A typical career path for an entry level engineer includes one year of training and mentoring followed by another year of direct product line support. This includes responding to and correcting equipment, process or procedure deficiencies in an operational environment. Movement between the primary spent fuel product lines and an operations support engineer shift assignment is encouraged. Shift work is primarily a rotating nine hour day shift and swing shift assignment.

Advancement opportunities include projects to improve equipment, operations and develop new product lines. Qualification as a Refueling Operations Engineer, a bonus position requiring additional training and biennial requalification, may also be an option.
