Associate Director, Senior Designer

Plans, develops, and executes effective communication campaigns to promote the University’s programs, through advanced graphic design and visual storytelling.

Essential Job Functions:
1. May plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating.

2. Develops communication and promotional campaigns for a wide range of clients, working with creative staff to determine the best way to present information that advances the institutional brand and creative strategies.

3. Participates in design and production of collateral for communication campaigns, handling budgeting and scheduling, and assisting with such responsibilities as design development, production coordination, and progress tracking. This may include social media-quality photo and video capture.

4. Develops briefings, brochures, graphics for web pages, promotional materials, illustrations, and computer artwork for use in print and display materials.

5. Researches illustrations and photographs to plan presentation of materials.

6. Creates designs, concepts, and sample layouts, based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.

7. Prepares illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients or supervisors and making necessary changes.

8. Attends photo shoots and printing sessions to ensure that the products needed are obtained.

9. Develops graphics and layouts for product illustrations, logos, and Web sites.

10. Draws and prints charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork, using computer.

11. Uses computer software to generate new images.

12. Keys information into computer equipment to create layouts for client or supervisor.

13. Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and selects style and size of type.

14. May prepare detailed storyboards showing sequence and timing of story development for video production.

15. Initiates market research studies or analyzes their findings.

16. Coordinates or participates in strategic enrollment marketing or promotional activities.

17. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients.

18. May write interesting and effective communication programs and oversees and implements promotional campaigns across a variety of channels.

19. Identifies main client groups and audiences, determines the best way to communicate and engage audiences to elicit desired outcomes, and develops and implements a communication plan.

20. May manage communications budgets.

21. Evaluates advertising and promotion programs for compatibility with public relations efforts.

22. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
