Associate Director

JOB DESCRIPTION

This full-time position is designed to help take the Iowa Brewers Guild to the next level. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing membership, retail, and sponsorship programming, and contribute to the event coordination and communications teams. This position will require passion for and knowledge of the craft beer industry, as well as an ability to work primarily from home. Some travel and work on weekends required.

Reports To: Minister of Iowa Beer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership

  • Maintain current membership rosters (brewery, allied, and enthusiast)
  • Develop programming and grow all levels of membership

Financial

  • Meet revenue goals and work within annual budget
  • Develop and coordinate merchandise sales
  • Develop sponsorship programming

Events

  • Assist with the planning/execution of all IBG events (festivals, education, beer weeks, membership meetings, trade show, etc.)

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with the IBG team, membership, and public
  • Assist with newsletter, social media, and other communication endeavors as needed

Industry Development

  • Support and assist government affairs objectives
  • Interface with federal, regional, and state Guild colleagues as needed
  • Interface with other industry trade groups and regulatory agencies as needed

Other duties

  • Fulfill any additional duties as directed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be proficient in Social Media/Networking, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel, and should be able to use Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop Elements. Graphic design skills a plus.
  • Must be able to work within a budget. Experience with Quickbooks a plus.
  • Must be comfortable at public speaking/networking.
  • Must have a knowledge of the beer and alcohol industry, including basic understanding of the regulations governing all types of alcohol.
  • Must be able to sell (memberships of all levels, sponsorships, etc.)
  • Experience in event planning
  • Will be required to attend various IBG events and meetings throughout the state, including occasional nights/weekends and/or out-of-state travel

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES

  • Valid Driver License
  • BJCP or Cicerone© a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in the craft beer industry. Must be self-motivated, highly organized, detail oriented, and demonstrate ability to create, develop, and manage multiple projects. Will need to demonstrate initiative and follow-through in all areas of responsibility. Must work cooperatively with others. Must display excellent verbal and written skills. Positive attitude and fast learner a must.
