Associate Designer

General Description:
The Associate Designer is responsible for supporting the Creative Manager, Creative Director and Chief Creative Officer with visually representing their design direction for our master planning, media pre-production, special venue and attraction designs. Working under the direction of the Creative Manger, this position is critical to the correct interpretation and ultimate realization, of his/her creative vision. The Associate Designer also supports the production of each detail that makes an award winning entertainment experience.

This people-oriented job, involves working on multiple projects to meet tight deadlines. The Associate Designer may need to implement quick revisions to match the Creative Management team’s requests. The position requires software training in the Adobe Creative Suites software, specifically Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. He/She should be familiar with image compression, file correction, and optimization techniques.

The Associate Designer will interpret the given creative direction and generate the visual concepts for various entertainment projects. It also involves supporting the detailed articulation of that concept through each design and production stage. Additionally, the Associate Designer will be responsible for generating his/her production deliverables within the given guidelines and time constraints.

The Associate Designer must be self-driven, operating effectively with minimal oversight – yet welcome collaboration and feedback from other team members. He/She must be emotionally secure to respect differing perspectives and embrace discussion regarding the created artwork. Strong communication skills are a must, with a high emphasis on articulating creative ideas and expressing one’s opinions clearly and in a straight-forward manner.

Essential Functions:
1. Participate in brainstorming sessions and project charettes

2. Create custom illustrations as required

3. Create plans, elevations, and schematic diagrams as required

4. Execute the production of drawings and presentation packages

5. Maintenance and organization of digital assets

6. Remain cognizant of budget and schedule criteria

Job Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Degree in Fine Arts or related field or equivalent visual design degree preferred

2. Experience with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketchup, and AutoCAD

3. Knowledge of interior design, architectural master planning, entertainment design, and theme parks.

4. Familiarity with architectural and scenic materials and construction methods.

5. Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals and have the ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative design solutions

6. Knowledge of experience design, brand development and creative process

7. Must be able to communicate effectively with internal team, partners, vendors, consultants and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail

8. Ability to develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems or products, including creative and technical contributions

9. Capacity to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the position

10. Utilization of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

11. Fluently operate a personal computer and use of Microsoft Office software programs efficiently.

12. Must be able to do basic mathematical computations with a high degree of accuracy

13. Must be able to handle multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.

14. Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work

15. Excellent memory and organizational ability, in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

16. Should be comfortable and confident working in a fast-paced environment with multiple conflicting deadlines.

17. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
