Assistant to Talent Buyer

Job Summary:


The Role:

  • Assist Talent Buyer administratively in all aspects of booking live shows for the House of Blues

Responsibilities:


Establish, Build, and Maintain Positive Relations with Agents, Musicians and Industry People

  • Handle heavy telephone calls, emails and written submissions
  • Assist Talent Buyer in the creation of performance offers
  • Create, input and distribute reports and forms
  • Continually update information in the system
  • Coordinate on-sales and pre-sales with Marketing Manager
  • Receive, execute and distribute performance agreements
  • Coordinate artist deposits and night of show payments
  • Compile and distribute Talent guest lists
  • Receive, process and catalog local artist submissions
  • Assist Talent Buyer in booking and coordinating local support
  • Assist Talent Buyer in booking Service Industry Nights
  • Assist Talent Buyer on venue Rental Events
  • General office duties


Financial performance and Results of Departments

  • Implement approved budget

  • Manage department accounting paperwork
  • Weekly report to Talent Buyer: sales trends, bookings, sales recap, department productivity
  • Execute settlements for the Music Hall acts including percentages, ticket audits and reconciliation
  • Execute Purchase Order process timely for deposits and payments

Maintains Workflows between Talent and Other Departments

  • Coordinate with Production Manager/Stage Manager to ensure successful show
  • Execute radio buys/print buys/show papering
  • Monthly calendar – production and distribution

  • Attend weekly promotions meetings with Marketing department
  • Track all ticket buys/ticket give-aways with accurate daily ticket count report
  • Ensure and maintain superior customer service
  • Communicate regarding space requirements and booking with Special Events
  • Oversee the booking of Gospel Brunch, Restaurant Stage and Support Acts

Qualifications:


Required:

  • Flexible Schedule (days/nights, late hours, weekends, and holidays)
  • 3-5 Years experience in the music booking industry
  • Knowledge of the tours and talent industry
  • High School diploma required,
  • Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms

Preferred:

  • Some College or College Degree
  • Knowledge of grass roots marketing, radio and print promotions and F&B operations
  • Experience in a live music environment

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

  • Working environment is fast-paced and often loud and stressful
  • Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing, lifting, bending, reaching, and working on your feet
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs using proper lifting techniques
  • Tolerance of loud noise level in working environment
  • Able to wear a radio earpiece during the scheduled shift
  • Must maintain the utmost confidentiality of company/talent related information
  • Able to work primarily Monday-Friday but with flexibility to work some weekends or evenings
