ASSISTANT PORTFOLIO MANAGER

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field. A minimum of two to four years of experience in the management of a large-scale public portfolio is required.

Miami-Dade County is seeking an experienced and results-oriented professional to perform a variety of involved financial and analytical duties related to financial management of a public investment portfolio, as well as assisting in the maintenance of the County’s various banking relationships. Incumbents in this class are responsible for investing surplus public money in various securities to obtain maximum financial return consistent with future money requirements, and coordinating various activities between the County and its banking relationships.

Responsibilities include: Exercising technical expertise in all aspects of the management of the County’s investment portfolio; ensuring the successful completion of each step of the investment process from initiation of investment purchases/sales to settlement with the custodian banks; coordinating with various departments to determine cash flow needs and preparing short and long term cash forecasts; administering the County’s wire transferring of funds; acting as one of the administrators of the County’s various online banking/investing related reporting systems; auditing all transfers daily; forecasting short and long-term cash needs of the County.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and a proven track record in professional financial management providing a variety of investment management decisions as well as in depth knowledge of the banking function and its administration within a large complex organization.
