About this role

We are looking for a well-organized, color passionate, artistically inclined and ready to learn Assistant Designer. This position reports to the Design Director while working closely with the cross-functional product team including internal and external designers, Product Managers, Tech Design and Product integrity teams.

If you are a self-starter, with great problem-solving skills who can own and maintain several projects concurrently, we would love to talk to you. We are a fast-paced, casual and technically outdoor product-focused environment.

What you will do

Design Assistant:

  • Create and maintain Category Line Plan (visual line plans) for Apparel and Accessories in partnership with Designers and Product Managers.

  • Complete and maintain Master Label and Logo binder

  • Maintain sample rack, ensure correct season is represented and storing past seasons. Organize and facilitate sample giveaways

  • Partner with Product Managers on athlete and consumer events or focus groups may include short travel to events

    Color:

  • Manage lab dips for all categories (Apparel and Accessories), including fabric and trims from SMS through production as needed.

  • Partner with materials mills and Hong Kong office on lab dip approvals through production as the primary point person.

  • Partner with Design Director on the creation of Color Presentation tools

  • Build and maintain Master Lab Dip document

  • Select and maintain colors for the Master Trim Color book

  • Assist Design team in running reports that track where colors are used in the line for efficiency tracking.

What you should bring to the table

  • Degree from accredited apparel design/ merchandising/ development program

  • 1-2 years related design assistance experience preferred or previous internships

  • Strong sense of color, with visual color accuracy required, must pass the color accuracy test

  • Design composition skills utilized for presentation materials

  • Strong organizational skills required to maintain multiple master tool kits

  • Experience with the lab dip process a plus

  • Experience developing trims a plus

  • Experience maintaining Category Line Plans (also referred to as colored line art/ visual line plans/ grids) a plus

  • General understanding of the outdoor sports markets and trends

  • Demonstrates initiative and follow through in all areas of responsibility

  • Willingness to seek input and evaluate information to make commercially responsible decisions

  • Comfortable with teamwork atmosphere and ability to be flexible and agile within the work environment and scope of responsibility

  • Computer literate with ability to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; Quick skill learning required. Strong competency in Adobe Illustrator. Experience with InDesign a plus
