Assistant Controller at Invuity

Position Description:
The ideal candidate will have outstanding problem solving skills, the ability to interact with all levels of staff and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. This position is a Senior Manager/Director level role that will report into the Corporate Controller and will be located at our headquarters in San Francisco. This is a regular, full-time, exempt position.

This position will be responsible for:
  • All month end close activities.
  • Supervision of the Accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable.
  • Assisting with SEC reporting including 10-Q and 10-K reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Take the lead in coordinating month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies.
  • Interface with management in various departments, including sales, operations, IT and customer service for GL completeness.
  • Manage the accuracy and timely filing of 1099’s, Sales and Use Tax filings and payroll taxes, as well as staying current on all applicable tax laws.
  • Assist in collation and preparation of audit schedules and PBC requests.
  • SOX documentation support.
  • Supervise the GL Accountant to ensure all journal entries and account reconciliations are completed on time and accurately.
  • Supervise the accounts payable function to ensure vendor invoices are paid timely and accurately.
  • Supervise the accounts receivable function to ensure customer invoices are processed accurately and paid on time.
  • Assist the team in streamlining current processes for increased efficiency.
  • Compilation and update of the SEC required reporting.
  • Work with auditors, management and attorneys to gather information for inclusion in the required SEC reporting.
  • Keep abreast of SEC regulations.
  • Manage people appropriately to obtain necessary information for SEC reporting.
  • Manage Concur and the expense report process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years general ledger accounting experience with knowledge of GAAP; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA a plus.
  • SEC compliance and public company background required.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Previous experience as an external auditor liaison.
  • Previous experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
