Assistant Controller

ChannelAdvisor is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented team player to join the Finance Team as an Assistant Controller.

The Assistant Controller will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and the position will be responsible for coordinating the global accounting, SEC reporting and technical accounting functions at ChannelAdvisor. This position manages and coordinates the company-wide month end accounting close, consolidation and internal and SEC financial reporting processes. This position is also responsible for assisting the Chief Accounting Officer with any ad-hoc requests and inquiries.

This position requires in-depth technical accounting knowledge to assist in all aspects of accounting for a global organization, so experience with the consolidation of foreign operations is preferred. This role will interact with all internal departments, external auditors, and consultants to maintain the accounting records for the company, so strong communication skills are important. This position requires strong supervisory skills and will help develop, manage and drive the identification and implementation of initiatives necessary to enhance control and efficiency of the accounting function including timely and accurate reporting. The Assistant Controller will also be responsible for development and consistent application of the Company’s accounting policies and procedures. Lastly, this position requires strong accounting software knowledge and experience.

Job Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for:

• Supervising the day-to-day General Ledger accounting function, intercompany accounting and consolidation, payroll, international statutory audits, and financial reporting systems.
• Managing and coordinating the month-end accounting close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness as well as compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations and other reports where necessary.
• Preparing consolidated financial statements and managing the preparation and distribution of the monthly internal management report and schedules, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
• Manage the SEC reporting function ensuring compliance with reporting and disclosure requirements.
• Responsible for managing share based compensation accounting.
• Manage the Corporate Accounting budget including establishing updated forecasts and investigating budget to actual differences.
• Developing and maintaining effective internal controls over financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
• Coordinating the quarterly review and annual audit process with the Company’s external auditors, including multiple international statutory audits.
• Research and manage technical accounting issues and implement new accounting rules and regulations in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Overseeing all financial systems as they affect the accounting function (i.e. NetSuite, ProCube, Salesforce, Workiva, etc). Ensure updates are processed accurately and timely.
• Various ad hoc requests including acquisition due diligence and integration.

Required Skills

• BS or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance
• Certified Public Accountant
• Minimum of 10 years experience in Accounting and Finance roles
• Minimum of 7 years experience supervising Accounting and Finance professionals
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC reporting requirements
• Strong analytical and accounting skills
• Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Detailed record-keeping (accuracy is a must)
