Position Description
McKesson Specialty Health is growing our technology leadership team by bringing on results focused innovators capable of transforming solid teams into dream teams. We are seeking an Application Development Manager with strong technical and leadership qualities to lead a cross functional development team in the development of application services provided to Healthcare Providers, Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, and Patients on a Java and SOA based platform. This includes the development of branded website user interfaces as well as integration with cloud technologies like Salesforce and Informatica Cloud.
Our applications support our pharmaceutical, biotech and generic manufacturer customers in bringing federally mandated programs operational in our Contact Center with full support of functionality externally via websites. As a leader on the technology team, the Application Development Manager is required to have or develop deep expertise in the purpose and function of drug safety and reimbursement services programs and will be able to oversee technical development while engaging with other departments to support a strong and unified customer experience throughout the development of each program. Experience in managing senior/ executive-level relationships and single customer or multi-customer engagements is desirable. This leader should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of delivering multiple projects on time and within scope. Additionally, this individual will be highly skilled working in a matrix environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Application Development Project Oversight – He/she provides technical guidance and oversight of projects including directly or indirectly (in coordination with project managers) managing the full project lifecycle. May collaborate with other McKesson Business Units to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients as appropriate; may include Relay-Health, McKesson Specialty Canada, etc. Develop subject matter expertise of the product line, customer programs and marketplace.
  • Team Member Management – Leads individual contributors to be high performance team members who produce excellent quality technology and documentation that is intuitive and supports efficient utilization by program stakeholders.
  • Data Management – Has an eye on the ultimate measurement of application solutions by his/her complete knowledge and management of data gathered through the applications his/her team develops. He/she has a strong understanding of data security, data flow, and impact on reporting solutions.
  • Customer/Implementations Management Support – He/she provides technical management and strategic expertise to program teams and/or customers. He/she supports Customer Managers (CM’s) to achieve the goals of delivering quality FDA deliverables to clients. Attends client meetings as required to deliver projects, improve profitability, quality and/or client satisfaction. Adhere to Quality Management standards and processes and provides guidance to the team to assure continued adherence. Helps to ensure the coordination and execution of timely and effective internal and external communication. Ensure client deliverables are provided professionally and on time.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
4+ years applications programming experience including 2+ years managerial experience
Critical Skills
  • 6+ years of hands-on application development experience in a full stack Java environment (Java & Java UI)
  • Experience leading enterprise architecture of scalable distributed systems.
  • Demonstrable experience with relational databases and ability to write in SQL (Oracle, PL/SQ)
  • Knowledge of and adherence to SDLC best practice
  • Knowledge of UI/UX best practices
  • Project Management experience, including taking a project from scoping requirements through launch of the project and transition to support
  • Results oriented with strong time management, organizational, analytical, research, written, and editing skills.
  • Experience in a third party or SaaS/PaaS environments
Additional Knowledge and Skills
  • Firsthand development of mobile solutions
  • Understanding of Cloud technologies
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Suite products (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Knowledge of Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies (REMS), Pharmaceutical Drug Ordering/Claims Processes, and Patient Reimbursements
  • Experience working in a FDA-regulated environment or other regulated environment with knowledge of 21 CFR part 11 requirements
  • Working knowledge of regulatory affairs, FDA regulations; CAPA, and ISO standards (with GMP or GXP preferred)
  • Desired backgrounds include healthcare, Medicare, pharmaceuticals, biologics manufacturing, or clinical research
  • Cloud based solutions certifications such as Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Health Cloud, or Informatica Cloud
Education
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience. Master preferred.
Travel
Light travel may be required
