Application Developer

Job Description:
Develops, enhances, debugs, supports, maintains and tests software applications that support business units or supporting functions. These application program solutions may involve diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools. Participates in the design, development and implementation of complex applications, often using new technologies. May provide technical direction and system architecture for individual initiatives. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource. Will not have direct reports but may lead projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. May have responsibility for a project and project budget. May collaborate with external programmers to coordinate delivery of software application. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants. Typically requires 5-7 years of experience.

This position will reside in Plano, TX and support the Corporate Treasury Technology Group within Bank of America. This position seeks to fill the need for a Senior Java and SQL Developer. The individual selected for this role will be experienced and skilled in developing and supporting highly complex Java programs and building indices, developing stored procedures, monitoring, performance tuning, and trouble shooting in MS SQL Server.

Required Skills”

• 5-7 years database development experience
• Extensive hands on development experience in database architecture, building indices, developing stored procedures, monitoring, performance tuning, and trouble shooting.
• This is a core developer role – need knowledge of developing complex queries using dynamic sql, utilizing query plans to identify bottlenecks
• Must have extensive experience with MS SQL Server
• Must have experience in designing, enhancing, maintaining and supporting large financial reporting and ETL warehouses
• Must have release management experience with warehouse applications, with emphasis on DDL and DML releases
• Moderate JAVA development experience. Experience in distributed middleware applications such as IBM Websphere MQ, Message broker
• 3-5 years Unix/Linux shell scripting
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to investigate and work independently without supervision
• Experience and understanding of agile methodologies

• Financial product or industry knowledge
• Experience with python, Autosys, version control systems (CVS / SVN / Perforce), and Business Intelligence tool
