Job Description

JAVA Application Developer in Oklahoma City, OK. As an Application Developer, you will assist with sustainment, modification, and implementation of the USAF s Comprehensive Engine Management System (CEMS). Key duties of this position involve but are not limited to: updating existing code within the application, identifying shortfalls in the current system configuration and recommending modifications to the system. The developer will work with the Project Lead, other developers, analysts and the customer to deliver customer requirements. A successful candidate must have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and be capable of adjusting to changing priorities. The candidate must also have experience providing client support (CA). Approximately 20% of the position requires managing and troubleshooting government computers and other information technology equipment assigned or utilized by the customer. Under the CSA function you will perform a broad range of responsibilities to include complex computer systems administration duties in the implementation and maintenance of IT systems; to provide technical support for a combination of desktop, server and network hardware, software and peripheral equipment; to upgrade existing hardware and software, to correct reported hardware and/or software problems; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. In addition, CS duties include establishing/maintaining accounts, access, clearance, and passwords to network providers and other locations where required information is to be downloaded, or viewed in performance of this PWS.

Duties

Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software. Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications.

Researches, tests, builds, and coordinates the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements. Designs and develops new software products or major enhancements to existing software.

Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.

Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.

Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.

Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages and application/integration and testing tools.

Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.

Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of other software developers on development team.

Participates in development of software user manuals.

CS activities include to providing technical support for a combination of desktop, server and network hardware, software and peripheral equipment. Responsibilities also include upgrading existing hardware and software, establishing/maintaining accounts, access, clearance, and passwords to network providers and other locations.

Qualifications

S uccessful candidate must have the following education and experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor s degree, preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline. Experience may be substituted for education.

3 years experience in a similar position

Must have Java EE development experience

Must have Oracle/SQL/Database programming experience

Must have experience with Web service technologies including SOAP, XML, JAX-WS

Must have Web development experience (HTML, JavaScript, AJAX)

2 years software and hardware Client Support experience

Security+ certification is required

Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desired Qualifications

T he ideal candidate would have knowledge of USAF s propulsion IT systems. Experience with the following is a plus:

Apache Tapestry 5

Hibernate

Apache Tomcat

IBM emulation or IBM IMS

JAVA Web technologies such as Java Server Faces (JSF), Java Server Pages (JSP), Wicket, Seam, or Google Web Toolkit (GWT)

Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) technologies such as iBATIS, Apach Cayenne, JDO or JPA

Other Java EE servers such as JBoss, Glassfish, Websphere, Weblogic, or Jetty

Network layer programming using sockets, HTTP, TCP/IP

Perl

Subversion or CVS

NetBeans or Eclipse

Microsoft IIS 7

Windows Server 2003/2008

Candidate must have a Secret Security Clearance.

These positions require the candidate to have or be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level; in order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. An active Secret clearance is highly desirable.

Less than 10% travel anticipated.
