In this position, you will join a cross-functional team supporting a fast growing and changing Sales and Service Organization helping our customers to answer their business needs.

Reporting to the IT Applications Manager, the Data Analyst will play a key role in analyzing, architecting and evolving the Business Intelligence / Analytics platform and will need to understand how supported BI platform functions in Thermo Fisher Scientific MSD application ecosystem. This role will be responsible to ensure fast, consistent and accurate insight into business data is provided business community.

The position is located at our Material and Structural Analysis Division’s headquarters in Hillsboro, Oregon.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the BI team on projects and production support.
  • Work with business users and the Applications Team to identify, prioritize and document requirements for BI and Reporting enhancements.
  • Coordinate system design activities and perform business/system impact analysis on initiatives to introduce, modify or upgrade BI and Reporting applications.
  • Develop custom reports, dashboards requested by the business teams.
  • Follow the company’s System’s Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices, methodologies and change control policy in the development and rollout of BI technologies.
  • Train business users on new BI functions and changes to system features.
  • Administer BI security setups across all business functions.
  • Provide expert support for the BI applications across all business functions, including researching and troubleshooting user issues, replicating issues in the test environment, performing hot fixes, and coordinating enhancements.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience with supporting a BI and Reporting applications
  • Experience with Data Analytics projects, including gathering and documenting business requirements, designing reports and dashboards and troubleshooting application errors
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical job experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively with changing priorities in a dynamic and global environment.
  • Excellent T-SQL and Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Experience with Dimensional modeling, Data mining and Data modeling
  • Programming languages such as Python or R

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with SDLC concepts, methodologies and techniques.
  • Experience in managing projects and coordinating process reengineering efforts and analysis.
  • Highly organized ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated.
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of business clients.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • SSRS, SSAS and SharePoint experience
  • Experience with data structures of common business transactional systems (ERP, CRM, PLM)
