Job Summary

The IT Enterprise Integration Leader is responsible for leading our global integrations team in designing, building and supporting technology services and projects to fulfill Pentair Electrical business needs, in collaboration with multiple business functions. This role will require the ability to concurrently oversee multiple projects and support efforts, while leading and developing a team of global technology experts in the EDI and EAI domains.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Reliable Operations:
    Design, implement and operate IT service and support processes, in conjunction with the IT Infrastructure/Ops/Support team, to ensure reliable service and support to our clients
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with data feeds, real time or batch, file based or message-based, across the firewall or behind, and other aspects of the overall integration environment
    • Manage vendor resources and support relationships as related to projects and on-going support.
    • Evaluate and cost out different modes of support – in-house, managed or hybrid.

  • Solution Alternatives & Cost Estimating:
    Lead the team to deliver consultative design, solution alternative identification, cost estimating and feasibility services to support IT Business Partnering and provide our business clients information to enable them to make technology decisions
    • Assist business clients and IT Business Partner teams with preparation of business cases, in particular helping to adequately identify and describe IT requirements
    • Determine solution costs/ensure on-time delivery and within budgetary guidelines

  • Design & Build:
    Lead the team in designing, developing and deploying technology solutions and enhancements to meet funded business demand and documented business requirements, which fall within the scope of data and/or application integration
    • Provide technical hands-on guidance to a team of EDI, ETL and EAI specialists to create and launch solutions globally
    • Test/deploy/configure/support new and existing features and functionality in partnership with both internal and external development teams
    • Work with business and technical teams to design and develop “global” integration solutions that also rationalizes our portfolio

  • Delivery Collaboration:
    Partner with Business Stakeholders, IT Business Partners, PMO, Infrastructure/Ops/Support and other IT Engineering teams to deliver funded projects; work with IT Engineering peers and Business Stakeholders to ensure clear accountability for delivery of all scope elements, integration points and business process changes
    • Develop, clarify, and manage the scope of the enterprise integration program, define contract deliverables and achieve targeted outcomes

  • Delivery Oversight:
    Oversee project execution to ensure all efforts remain on track for resources, time, scope and risk
    • Provide technical and project leadership for the establishment and operation of Pentair Electrical’s integration platform(s)

  • Technical Architecture:
    Ensure compatibility across all of our enterprise solutions & application within our landscape, within the funding constraints provided for each project
    • Responsible for managing the design, upkeep and enhancements of Pentair Electricals overall Integration environment (platforms, applications and solutions)

  • Embedded Security:
    Partner with Cyber Security team to ensure all solutions are designed and delivered with robust Security embedded, in compliance with SANS / CIS Critical Security Controls

  • Vulnerability Management:
    Ensure people, process, technology and data are aligned to provide awareness of and develop solutions to address security vulnerabilities in our existing and proposed technologies; ensure solutions are designed to enable ongoing patching and upgrades to maintain secure posture

  • Compliance:
    Ensure relevant IT processes are designed and executed in compliance with relevant SOX / IT general controls; support data collection requirements for audits

  • Risk and Life-cycle Management:
    Partner with service owners to monitor and manage life-cycle risk for all integration solutions in place and establish plans for remediating risks; work with IT leadership to budget and schedule remediation projects

  • Innovation and Technology Leadership:
    Develop culture, process and capacity for technology innovation within the integrations team; partner with IT Business Partner team to understand business strategies and outlook, to focus innovation efforts
    • Stay abreast of current managed services and iPaaS technologies and contributes to and participates in the analysis and recommendation of new strategies and/or technologies to improve the enterprise IT architecture

  • Application Rationalization:
    Participate in efforts to rationalize our integration technology landscape, by inventorying existing solutions, various integration points, solution utilization, life-cycle risk / outlook and challenges to be addressed in migrating / consolidating

  • People Development:
    Lead and develop a global team of IT engineers and analysts to build an environment where we are able to attract and retain talent, where people want to work, where they feel they have the opportunity to grow, and where they are clear about how they can be successful in their role

  • Capacity Management:
    Develop methods and tools to track and manage resource capacity and utilization within the team, and ensure that resources are being allocated only to funded priorities (eliminate resource leakage for unfunded projects)

  • Vendor Management:
    Develop relationships with external service and technology providers, to provide opportunities to quickly extend resource capacity, skills and solution capabilities as business and internal IT projects are funded and approved, or to optimize support quality and/or cost

  • Budgeting:
    Lead budgeting and rate-setting efforts for the integration team

  • Strategy & Planning:
    Participate in IT functional and business technology strategy and planning process, to develop roadmaps for technology innovation, rationalization and renovation

  • IT Transformation:
    Participate in and lead elements of the IT transformation effort, to deploy the right Structure, Culture, Resource Allocation & Governance, Methods & Tools, Metrics & Rewards to be an effective partner to our business clients


Job Requirements & Skills

  • 8-12 years’ experience in hands-on solution and support delivery is required; any leadership experience is a huge plus

  • Must have previous global experience, working across different time zones with global team

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent experience

  • Experience in delivering solutions with traditional and contemporary integration methodologies such as EDI, EAI and ETL

  • Experience in delivering solutions with integration technologies such as GXS, Informatica, Datastage, BizTalk, GlobalScape

  • Experience with a major iPaaS platform such as Dell Boomi, Mulesoft or Informatica is a major plus

  • Demonstrated experience with developing a middleware layer that acts as both, a means of mediation, and federation

  • Understanding of various integration architectures and topologies with a good grasp on tradeoffs

  • Understanding of data communication protocols (FTP, MQTT, Kafka), data formats (XML, JSON) and data standards (EDIFACT, X12)

  • Experience with SAP is strongly preferred (IDoc, EDI configuration, workflow)

  • Able to manage across multiple time-zones and support major enterprise initiatives such as eCommerce, CRM and SAP rollouts

  • Be a combination of a technical hands-on architect and an effective leader

  • Able to lead technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence with the business and other engineering teams

  • Strong systems knowledge along with knowledge of IT standards and methodologies

  • Skills in proactive problem prevention and resolution and anticipates potential problems or short comings in systems design or business processes

  • Excellent written and oral communication in English

  • Multilingual in French, German and other languages is a major plus
