The Apparel designer is responsible for the concept and execution of our design direction and ensuring we stay ahead of the competition and the trend curve in all categories.

The Apparel Designer is responsible for full-spectrum creative design services for the BAUER Global Apparel collections including:

• Seasonal “design direction” for all product categories including: Uniforms; Performance, Lifestyle, & Team Apparel
• Design of silhouettes, prints, and graphics fulfilling the seasonal merchandising brief, cost criteria, and athlete needs
• To uphold brand design integrity and continuity throughout development process: from concept, through proto stages, and to commercialization
• Coordination of packaging and trim design with internal development team
• Creation and maintenance of seasonal visual line plans across all product collections

The successful candidate will lead the internal design process including:

• Provide seasonal color, print, graphic, and trend direction for brand and product categories
• Drive/consult on design direction throughout sourcing and development process (fabric, trim, color, proto-types)
• Select fabric and trims with suitable technical and performance values at appropriate price tiers
• Manage successful calendar adherence for all design/creative requirements
• Conduct and manage design reviews throughout seasonal calendar with cross functional team

The Apparel Designer will own and maintain the commercialization for tech packs including:

• Creation of detailed silhouette drawings/briefs using Adobe Illustrator
• Creation of full-size artwork/graphics/briefs with complete color and technical details
• Artwork for labels, trims and packaging
• Collaborate with product developer in fittings and maintain sketch corrections as needed
• Maintain internal PLM/PDM/other systems as required during design/development process

The successful candidate will be responsible for all seasonal color management including:

• Work collaboratively on research, maintenance, and setting of seasonal color palettes
• Set and maintain seasonal color standards with internal and external teams
• Own lab dip review, comments, and approval process during development stages on selected materials and trims
• Own bulk lot review, comments, and approval process during commercialization stage
• Maintain color reference library for lab dips, bulk lots, prints/graphics, trims
• Maintain internal systems/tracking of lab dip and bulk lot comments

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion/Design with 3-5 years of experience in design/color or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Athletic/outdoor industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction and fit, production, product development, textiles and trims.
• Ability to collaborate within a team setting and work in an ambiguous, busy, and multi-seasonal environment.
• Committed to calendar, process adherence, and on time executions.
• Organized, flexible, efficient, ability to self-manage, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to influence cross functional partners and take direction from the team.
• Global knowledge of color, style, design trends, and competitive landscape.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Ability to travel as needed 15% of time.
