Analyst Corporate Banking

The Analyst will support the Fund Manager Team within

Corporate Banking Trading Products in analyzing credit risk related to

positions held on BMO’s trading books with Financial Counterparties,

primarily US Investment Advisors. The Analyst will complete due diligence

and credit analysis on the current portfolio as well as review new entities as

needed. The Analyst will further support the Team in a variety of other

portfolio management needs for the business. The Analyst may participate

in calls with the trading desk, market risk and other areas across the bank.

ACCOUNTABILITIES DEFINED

A. Credit Risk and Financial Analyses

  • Research and analyze financial and operating

performance relating to companies and industries.

  • Complete due diligence and credit analysis on

new and existing counterparties.

  • Perform Financial Statement analysis utilizing

all software associated with credit adjudication.

  • Draft internal materials for presentation to

Credit.

  • Assist in the review of credit documentation for

conformity with approved Credit terms and conditions.

  • Monitor exposure across different BMO lenders

and products.

  • Maintain internal trigger/compliance monitoring

records.

B. Portfolio Management Support

  • Support Team on portfolio management needs for

the business.

  • Manage operational flow of information for Bulk

Trading accounts.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

a) Knowledge:

  • An undergraduate degree, or higher, with outstanding academic achievement.
  • Specific academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting with outstanding academic achievement.
  • Credit analysis training and experience.
  • Relevant experience for analysts hired into 2nd or 3rd year slots.
  • Highly dependent on experience and performance, an analyst may maintain this role for 0-3+ years before advancement to the next level.

b) Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills to include business, financial, and credit analysis areas.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools including MS Excel. Strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office products and the Internet.
  • Ability to be creative, insightful and resourceful in performance of duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a collaborative and demanding team environment.
  • Strong ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner.
  • Excellent capability to independently function as part of a team through self-motivation
