Airline Scheduling Coordinator

Responsible for scheduling airport shared facilities and resources such as gates, aircraft parking stands, common-use ticket counters and baggage systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develop and maintain advanced gated flight schedules and resource allocations for air carriers by applying developed airport business rules. Schedule off-peak and ad hoc charter operations in accordance with standard operating guidelines and airport strategy. Assists frontline staff with real-time allocation of airport resources.

Function as subject matter expert and liaison regarding the scheduling of shared facilities within the airport. Coordinates with local airline and ground handler representatives to maximize the functional capacity of limited airport resources.

Serve as the system administrator for the INFORM GroundStar Airport Operations Database (AODB) and Resource Management System (RMS), which includes live and seasonal schedule environments.

Develop existing RMS and AODB systems to provide capacity for future data demands and position airport to better leverage technology in the future. Provide input for the operations of the Flight Information Management System (FIMS). Develop new methods for increasing schedule reliability and the digital transfer of gated flight data. Assist in training and system familiarization of RMS system users.

Take part in technical meetings, construction meetings, operational reviews, and project meetings. Participate in meetings and discussions pertaining to limiting access or operational availability of airport-owned airline resources to other departments and outside entities. Provide direct communication to airline representatives, airline operations departments, airport tenants and operations staff regarding shared facilities, proprietary gate usage and future facility allocation and utilization.

Provide input for the development and modification of airport resource utilization strategy.

Create and modify statistical reports based on information housed within the AODB. Requires a working knowledge or basic understanding of SQL reporting or INFORM Business Intelligence Tools. Will produce standardized reports based on air carrier operations, utilization rates and resource downtime.

Respond to Airport emergency situations 24/7 on-call as well as serve as an active member of Snow Team, working 12 hours on, 12 hours off during snow events in an Incident Command structure.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of airport and airline operations. Knowledge of the operation and function of an inline security baggage handling system with post-screening sortation. Ability to read construction phasing plans and technical drawings (CAD). Knowledge of Resource Management Systems and industry software such as GroundStar, SITA or Ascent Technologies. Basic understanding of gate layouts, airport layout designs and terminal facility infrastructure. Functional understanding of database management and manipulation. Analytic, interpretive, and decision making skills to evaluate and respond to system conditions. Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present information to others having various interests. Creative thought process to develop alternatives in advance of real-time events, as needed. Self-starter, strong initiative, high degree of integrity. Very strong customer service skills and follow-up. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Collaborate and direct airline schedulers and airline operations staff as need. Work independently with minimal supervision. Contribute and collaborate within cross-functional and cross-departmental teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Combination of education and experience demonstrative knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to:

Bachelor’s degree and

Three (3) years’ experience airline or airport operations experience at a medium or large-hub commercial service airport.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree and

Two (2) years Airline/Airport Project management experience at a medium or large-hub airport and/or gate and resource management at a medium or large-hub airport.

Additional Details

Driver’s License Requirement:
A valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required.

Weekly Standard Hours:
Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m

Work Environment

Will generally work in an office environment.

Security Requirements

AV: The successful candidate must pass a Transportation Security Administration background check. Will also be fingerprinted for a criminal history background check with the FBI. Hire date will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge.
