Description

The BACP administrative office service a large number of customers with business license issues, in-house administrative hearings calls, community mediation meetings, educational workshops and business conferences. The Administrative Assistant p

rovides customer service to the general public. Also provides administrative support services to department staff members.

Essential Duties:
Assist customers that are seeking services provided by the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection

Point of contact when customers call or enter the BACP main administrative office

Acting as a liaison between customers and BACP staff as well as other city departments and government agencies

Ensure that customers are directed to the appropriate personnel to assist with their business needs.

Performs daily administrative

tasks such as processing daily mail, retrieving and relaying telephone messages, making copies, faxing, replenishing department educational material, creating/updating office correspondence, researching department databases

Performs data entry operations, implementing front desk protocols, assisting the Office Administrator

Performs related duties as required

Qualifications

Three years of progressively responsible administrative or secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience

VETERANS PREFERENCE NOTE

Failure to answer the question and attach the required documentation will result in you not being considered for the Veterans Preference.

Selection Criteria

This position requires applicants to successfully pass a written skills assessment test. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after test results have been analyzed and compiled. The interviewed candidate(s) receiving a passing score on the test and possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

Previous experience providing customer service in a high volume public environment

·

Associates Degree or higher in Business Administration or Public Administration

·

Proficiency with MS Office

·

Previous experience providing administrative support

Evaluation

Residency Requirement

All employees of the City

of Chicago

must be actual residents of the City as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.
