      The Unites States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin (USAO) handles a wide variety of criminal and civil cases and has responsibility for the region covering 28 counties in rougly the eastern one-third of the state. The USAO has its main office in Milwaukee and a branch office in Green Bay.

      Responsibilities
      If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Administrative support within the United States Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin Typical work assignments will include:

      • Extensive data entry within a financial management system
      • Maintains and updates log of accountable property within the office
      • Performs mail functions within the office
      • Reviews, orders, and reconciles office supplies
      • Performs receptionist duties within the United States Attorney’s Office
      • Prepares various written materials utilizing various automated software systems

      Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

      Qualifications
      GS-06:

      To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.

      Specialized experience is defined as experience performing timekeeping functions, such as, reviewing, processing, and assisting with processing corrected timesheets; Experience serving as a point of contact on matters concerning time and attendance; Completes Time and Attendance leave error audits when necessary; Serves as supply clerk for district and branch offices, performing weekly review of stock levels of office supplies; orders, stocks and maintains proper toner and copier supplies based on tracked usage; Researches office supplies via GSA or open market and determines mandatory source or most cost advantageous items; completes purchase card requests and checklists; Tracks, and reconciles all incoming supplies against acquisition documents and takes action to resolve discrepancies identified; Serves as the Assistant Property Custodian, completes and submits paperwork to request the removal or destruction of equipment and/or office furniture as necessary; Serves as backup for the receptionists as needed, receiving telephone calls, and visitors to the office; controls access to office and ensures only properly cleared visitors are authorized; Serves as the principal or assistant travel clerk for the district and branch office staff, reviewing travel authorizations using various systems to ensure travel authorizations are within federal and Department of Justice policies; Experience performing data entry in a financial management system.

      GS-07:

      To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level.

      Specialized experience is defined as experience performing timekeeping functions, such as, reviewing, processing, and assisting with processing corrected timesheets; Verifying information submitted by each employee on timesheets such as, hours worked, leave taken, compensatory time or overtime worked, and ensures all information is approved and used in compliance with federal and departmental policies; Knowledge of performing leave audits; Experience performing comprehensive weekly physical inventories of all office supplies, and ensuring adequate supply levels are maintained; Experience utilizing acquisition authorities to determine purchasing criteria for Government Purchase Card such as, mandatory sources and best value determinations; completes proper purchase card requests forms through automated systems; Experience reconciling items and quantities received against purchasing documents; Experience updating and maintaining accurate accountable property database systems; Serves as backup for the receptionists as needed, receiving telephone calls, and visitors to the office; controls access to office and ensures only properly cleared visitors are authorized; Experience performing the duties of the principal or assistant travel clerk for the district and branch office staff, reviewing travel authorizations using various systems to ensure travel authorizations are within federal policies; Experience performing data entry in a financial management system.

      To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
