Actuarial Analyst, Entry Level – Employee Benefits

Job Description:
The Portland, OR Employee Benefits practice of Milliman provides consulting services to a broad array of retirement plan sponsors. We are looking for an entry-level actuarial student to assist consulting actuaries with all aspects of consulting to our clients, including the development and preparation of actuarial valuations, forecasts, and plan design studies. Job Responsibilities

Prepare defined benefit pension calculations

Apply federal pension regulations and plan documents to pension benefit calculations

Research pension compliance issues as required

Process and organize data and assist with actuarial valuation of pension plans

Assist with government filings

Organize and work with detailed pension records

Work towards EA and ASA designations

REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field with GPA of 3.0 or higher

Completion of at least one actuarial exam

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Ability to work both independently and in teams

Strong time management skills

Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

PREFERRED

GPA of 3.5 or higher

Programming experience

Microsoft Access experience

Office: Milliman is a firm of consultants and actuaries serving the full spectrum of business, governmental and financial organizations. Milliman’s Portland, Oregon office is located downtown with access to most bus and light rail lines in front of the building. We are near many food cart pods and walking distance to great restaurants. We have a 360° view of the city, and views of Mount Hood and Mount St. Helens.

Compensation: The base salary for the position will vary with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition, we offer a significant performance-based bonus plan, profit sharing, and generous benefits. We also offer a full study program for actuarial students.
